The most recent act of kindness was in the form of a visit to Covenant Village Retirement Community where 8th grade students enjoyed time with the residents. The students taught residents fun learning activities from their past while the students gained new insights from the resident’s wisdom. 

The 8th Grade Students at Summit-Questa had this to say about their experience:

Luca:  “I thought it was a great learning experience for all of us.  I really enjoyed it.  I felt like it was an eye opener to how the world is.  If we don’t help others, there will be no hope.”

Katherine:  “Going to the home, I was nervous to teach them the lessons, but they were so nice and friendly.  It was a great experience and I would love to go back again.”

Simon:  “The experience was definitely incredible.  Teaching the seniors was something that was beneficial for them and for the students, as well.”

Penelope:  “I loved spending time with them.  I personally feel that they passed their wisdom on to us.”

William:  “I thought it was really nice and relaxing because I was teaching the elders something they were doing from their past.”

Angejolie:  “I really enjoyed teaching them.  At first, I was uneasy about the whole thing, but it ended up being a lot of fun.  It was really nice getting to know them, and listening to their stories.”

The students weren’t the only ones that enjoyed the visit the residents also had quite a few nice things to input as well:

Pat:  “The students were very knowledgeable about the subjects they were teaching.  They made it easy for us to understand.  They were very precise with the placement of the materials.”

Ann:  “It was a pleasure having the Montessori students visit CVOF to explain and test their new project.  It’s always nice to see such intelligent and pleasant children participating in worthwhile projects that will benefit the elderly community.”

Nancy:  “I loved it!  I wish they could have stayed longer.”

Mary:  “I really enjoyed it.  I found it very interesting.  When are they coming back?”

Jeanie:  “The children were very intelligent, polite, and kind.  I was proud to have been chosen to work with them.  At 98, I’m lucky I don’t have any problems with my mind, but if I did, I know these children would help.”

It was a great time for all and quite the learning experience.  The students at Summit-Questa Montessori enjoyed their time in the community and look forward to their next opportunity to lend a helping hand.
