Art is an important tool in teaching history. The drawings can give a huge amount of information and can communicate about historical events. Our students first analyze different pieces of art in order to be able to understand and dig deeper into that specific time period, the perspective of the artist, the life of the artist and why they drew these pictures. Just knowing history is not enough for us. History is not just facts; it’s a story!
This time our students learned about Frida Kahlo, the Mexican artist, who is remembered for her self portraits. Kahlo was three years old when the Mexican Revolution began in 1910 and it was also reflected in her paintings.
