Helping others in need: Service, Compassion and Community
I am an 8’th grader at Summit Questa and a Boy Scout of Troop 118 in Davie.
I have grown up learning from both that, kindness, compassion, peace, service, leadership and doing my best to make a positive impact in my community are values that should guide us in our daily actions. My final requirement toward earning my Eagle Rank is a Service project for a non-profit organization that would benefit from the service provided. This project will allow me to use my organizational, leadership, and project development skills that I have spent 11 years learning at Summit Questa.
Peaceful Ridge Rescue is located in Davie and is a Non-profit Horse Rescue Facility with a mission to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned and abused horses with the ultimate goal to find homes for each of them.
The need for a turnout shelter at the rescue has been identified and is the project I have selected. This will allow the horses to be released in the pasture for extended periods to graze and exercise with appropriate shelter from the constant direct sunlight. I am asking families of Summi t Questa who have connections to construction companies to support me in this project through donations of materials or gift cards to Home Depot or Lowes so they can be purchased. The following are supplies needed:
4- landscaping timbers -8ft 9- 4×4 – 16ft 4- 2×4 – 16ft 18 – 2×4 – 10ft 1 – tin gauge – 16ft 8 – 2×6-16ft 10 – 1×4-16 ft 16 – 10ftx18 tin sheets 200 – 1x2inch nails
