Our newest project!
Our middle school students are building marble roller coasters in science. Key concepts which are introduced here are physics, gravity, potential energy, kinetic energy, friction, and conservation of energy. We are building a roller coaster track for marbles using foam pipe insulation and masking tape.
A marble at the top of the track has potential energy. When the marble rolls down, energy is conserved, but is transformed between different kinds of energies. As the marble goes down, potential energy converts to kinetic energy.
