Watching the children grow their garden never stops to amaze us! It shouldn’t, but it does. Watching them work on real tasks with real tools gives children a real life experience, also called “Erdkinder” (children of the earth).

Not only in Ms. Daniella’s garden, but at all the little gardens around campus, we are noticing changes to our plants. It has been super sweet this week.

Montessori enhances spending time observing these changes, talking about them, seeing fruits grow and change color, spotting bees pollinating flowers, and learning the science behind it. Nature’s wonders are just as educational as other Montessori material. Erdkinder also means dedicating time to observe and discuss these changes with children, which is such a learning opportunity for them and a total joy for everyone @summitquestamontessori
